Solid Biomass

Agrobiomass is a large, under-exploited and indigenous resource, which can support the achievement of the European Energy and Climate targets, while promoting rural development and circular economy. Small-scale CHP based on the exploitation of agrobiomass could be an ideal solution to satisfy globally energy needs of rural settlements but also of the needs agricultural structures such as greenhouses, poultry and swine houses.

The ORC solution for agrobiomass CHP

ORC technology operating at temperature ranges in the order of 120-130 °C can be used as an efficient solution for small-scale CHP. A biomass boiler is installed to supply with heat the ORC process. In such cases a thermal efficiency in the order of 10% can be achieved, while condensation heat available at 40-50 °C is the space heating source.
